As most of you know the Raging Bull Series which was scheduled on the 6th of June will not go ahead. While I’ve postponed the cancellation as long as possible by now I see no way how we can safely play a Magic the Gathering tournament in a basement with 64 people. Sure, if the location allows us, less people show up, we take certain precautions, we might…. Well no. That’s not going to be an Old School Tournament how I would like it to be. Depending on the Corona developments the tournament might be rescheduled to later this year, else it will definitely be next year. I’m very sorry for those people who arranged travel/flights and I hope you will get all your money back. In stead of the Raging Bull Series: 2020 Edition, on Saturday the 6th of June I will organise the Raging Bull Series: Online. You will have to register separately for this online tournament. If you want to participate please check all info below:

Registration
If you’ve registered for the Raging Bull Series you will have to register again for this Online tournament. Please register using the following link: https://forms.gle/5ApayCfWs63ZEJPv8 I don’t expect to hit the 64Player Cap online but we were at 70+ players for the live tournament so please register asap if you want to participate.
Planning
We will gather at 10:15 CEST on Saturday the 6th of June. We will start with a readiness check and will ask a mandatory deckpic to be uploaded. After several announcements we will start the 1st of 6 rounds Swiss. The start/end time of each round will be announced up front. The rounds last 55minutes and the end-time of a round you’ll play 5 additional turns. Both players should keep track of the end-time. Draws are fine, no orb flipping required to determine a winner. After each round there is a break of 15 minutes before the new pairings will be announced and another 5 minutes before the next round starts. The swiss rounds will end around 18:00 after which announcements and T8 will start. The tournament is expected to end before 21:30. If you can’t play all day, this tournament is unfortunately not for you. You’ll have to arrange for food and drinks during the tournament. There are small breaks so you’re asked to improvise 😉
Format & Rules
We will play according to the Swedish Old School B&R & reprint policy. http://oldschool-mtg.blogspot.com/p/banrestriction.html While I fully understand the desire of some players to allow for reprints, foreign cards and/or ICE/CE, these will not be allowed during this tournament. There are plenty of alternatives to play these cards and what makes the Raging Bull Series unique is that it is the only 100% Swedish tournament in the Netherlands. I would like to keep that uniqueness online as well.
(Web)Tools / Requirements
You’ll need a stable internet connection, good webcam setup including a microphone. Please test this up front! You will play the matches in your own Whereby rooms, therefor a Whereby account is required. Whereby subscriptions are free. Matches will be played in the Whereby room of player A. Please be aware that in the free version the widescreen option is no longer available. If you have a paid account you can put your webcam in widescreen mode by adding ?widescreen after your room name (i.e. https://whereby.com/ragingbull?widescreen) However unfortunately this causes problems for some players. Therefor if you experience any issues, please remove the ?widescreen from your url and check again.
Privacy & Mandatory Deckpic
Non of your personal details (e-mail/phone number) will be shared by me. However this tournament will be streamed live (we will pick random matches to stream), tournament results will be shared on the internet/social media and your deckpics will be used. A mandatory deckpic is needed as some form of “social” control since we are playing online. We will also use your deckpic during the live stream, for determining the winner of the spice prize and in the tournament results. I would like to ask all of you to make a “clear” deckpic of all your cards, including sideboard. No deckpic means no play. You’ll have the option to keep your name hidden by using a nickname in all coverage, this is available during registration. However I cannot guarantee that your name will not be mentioned during the livestream as we are only human.
Prizes & Tournament fee
For the coming Raging Bull Series I had arranged 2 original sketches from Randy Asplund, Wijnand had sponsered another awesome prize and I had arranged plenty of other cool stuff. However it doesn’t feel good to award these kind of prizes during an Online tournament. I could have either kept the original €10 fee and prizes or remove the fee and don’t award these awesome prizes. I hope you all understand that I’ve chosen the last options. There will still be a Raging Bull trophy card for the winner, eternal bragging rights, a small prize for the spiciest deck and the best unpowered deck. Also there will be no raffle so you can keep your “Raging Bull” tickets for now.
Sample Round
In the YouTube Livestream it will be announced that pairings are up. You can find your pairings in the Google Doc (link will be shared) after which you will join the appropriate Whereby room. You will always play in the room of player A. So if you are player A that’s easy, if you are player B you can look-up the room in the Google Doc. If pairings are announced at i.e. 12:00, the round starts at 12:05 and ends at 13:00. As soon as the match is over, the winner will fill in a match slip (link will be provided) and you’ll need to wait for the next pairings. In the meanwhile you watch the Livestream. The round ends at 13:00 after which you have 10 minutes to fill in the match slip. If you are to late the round is a draw. The next pairings will be announced at 13:15 and the round starts at 13:20. If you want to drop you can mark it at the match slip or contact me directly.
